â" Amir Khan (@amirkingkhan) August 17, 2021The Brook bout is years in the making, and fans are hopeful the pair will finally step in the ring together this year.
While both men are past their primes, the fight is still arguably one of the biggest Britain has to offer.
What has been said
Earlier this month, Khan told Fight Hype: âI see the Brook fight all day long. At the end of the day Brook needs to step it up and make it happen.
âIâm ready now so I donât know why heâs all quiet. Letâs hope he doesnât outbid himself, heâs gonna say that he wants more money.
âLook, Iâm ready. Iâve never been a fighter to turn down any fight. Iâve fought guys like Canelo, Crawford, Iâve fought the biggest names in the sport of boxing, do you think Iâm scared of Kell Brook?
âLetâs make that fight happen.â
Several days later, Brook told iFL TV: âIâve been quiet because thereâs more of a chance of it happening then.
âListen, thatâs the fight thatâs happening. Get to it, Khan. Put it on a little contract and weâre there. Thereâs a lot of talks.
"This year itâs happening; itâs got to happen, hasn't it?
âI just think bar Fury-AJ, I still think itâs the biggest fight in British boxing. I think everyone will still get very, very excited about that fight."
Recent fights
Khan hasnât fought in over two years â" his last bout was against Billy Dib in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia back in July 2019.
The Bolton boxer won via a fourth-round stoppage against the overmatched Australian at the King Abdullah Sports City to claim the WBC international welterweight title.
Back in April 2020, Khan admitted he was considering retiring from the sport due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Brookâs last fight was a fourth-round defeat to Terence Crawford in Las Vegas in November 2020.
Crawford was also the most recent man to beat Khan following their bout at Madison Square Garden in April 2020.
